How to Welcome New Community Members

By StonkBuilders EditorialPublished 21 Sep 20262 min read

The first visit sets the tone. A new member should know what the community is for, what is expected, where to ask a question, and what happens after they join.

Put a short welcome message before the detailed rules. Give one first action that demonstrates how the group works. Explain moderation and privacy plainly. If the community uses points, describe them as community-specific reputation and show how contributions are reviewed; do not imply automatic payment or a token value.

Use the public link page to make the path visible, then let the authenticated community home handle member-only information. The community use case shows how those surfaces can stay connected without mixing their jobs.

Review the onboarding path after each rules or event change. A newcomer should be able to identify the official home, understand what is public, and find help when something goes wrong. Keep incentives, moderation decisions, and eligibility rules explicit; a friendly welcome is not a substitute for clear boundaries or verifiable records.

Start with the online community homepage guide for the public front door.
