Define what staking means
In a product interface, staking may lock tokens, delegate voting power, or expose a governance action. Record the exact program, account, lock or withdrawal rule, start time, and network. Do not use the generic word “staking” as proof that a yield or reward is guaranteed.
Verify the official flow
Use the official domain and documentation, inspect the wallet prompt, and compare the program or account with a trusted explorer. A legitimate governance interaction still needs a review of permissions and destination accounts.
Eligibility is a separate question

Unstaking and timing
Before locking or delegating, read the withdrawal, cooldown, and governance timing rules that are current at the time of action. Note whether a rule is on-chain, documented off-chain, or inferred from a dashboard. Keep enough assets for fees and avoid irreversible tests.
A research record
Save the exact token mint, program, signature, date, rule source, and unknowns. If a page changes, update the record rather than silently rewriting history. Never connect a wallet from an unsolicited link.
